Important Question About Family Heritage/Family Tree? - heritage family tree

My father's parents is a very interesting group. My grandmother is from Czech Republic / Slovakia (I think) and my grandfather was from Slovenia / Croatia. Both parties left little information as possible about their family tree. I have no doubt that my grandmother is actually Czech.

Does anyone know a good site to check European descent. I doubt that any American ancestors have basic information about them. There is also a record that can handle the goverment these countries or have not been maintained. Just to try things together.
